About the owner,
VANESSA RAE
(she/her)
Following many years of service work and international travel including two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Madagascar, Vanessa earned her 800-hour massage diploma from East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon.
In 2016, Vanessa deepened her studies in Thailand, where she became certified in Advanced Thai Massage at Loi Kroh Massage School. These techniques incorporate slow, passive stretching and deep compression.
In 2019, she studied the ancient art of Cupping through Cupping Dynamix in Bend, Oregon. This technique is highly effective at improving circulation and breaking up scar tissue.
In January 2023, she took a month-long intensive Thai massage course at Baan Hom School in Northern Thailand, where she learned techniques to address complex issues such as chronic back pain, leg & knee pain, and gastric distress.
Vanessa was a massage instructor at Central Oregon Community College, Arizona School of Integrative Studies and was a co-founder of Northern Arizona Wellness Collective, a massage continuing education center.
On a personal note, Vanessa lives with a chronic autoimmune disorder and understands the challenges that come from bodies that don't always work the way we wish they would.
Vanessa has spent many years living and working in wilderness settings and is an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying backpacking, hiking, boating, and taking her dogs on all sorts of adventures. Her hobbies include cooking, West African dance and traveling, and she is honored to practice massage therapy in Flagstaff.
"Stepping out of the busyness, stopping our endless pursuit of getting somewhere else, is perhaps the most beautiful offering we can make to our spirit."
